【學苑專訊】港大新生開學禮於今日( 8 月 29 日)假百周年校園李兆基會議中心大會堂舉行。
黃程鋒致辭:港大同學應為社會的塑造者
學生會會長黃程鋒於致辭中表示,擔當一名港大學生並非易事,因為社會的期盼與一己主張(societal expectations and advocacies)或有出入,同學們須有乘風破浪的勇氣去衝破難關。他指出,社會期望學生只盲目遵循現有社會規則的想法非常錯誤;反之,同學應為社會的塑造者。縱使香港的未來危矣,但他相信未來仍掌握在大家的手中。因此,他呼籲同學不要安於現時的社會規範,而應持反抗的勇氣(rebellious courage)去質疑並改寫它們。
他另外盼望本世代會有更多如周永康、梁麗幗、梁天琦、馮敬恩及李峰琦等有非凡成就的年輕領袖誕生。他續提醒同學,人際關係能為大家帶給更多勇氣(Connections bring greater courage)。正如上述領袖,背後有多位幕後或寂寂無名的英雄支持。這些支持都賦予了他們勇氣,使他們能勇敢並大膽地前進;正如香港大學的榮譽從非是少數人爭取得來的成果,而是靠每一個人付出所建立的。
他又引用了陳秀慧教授的說話以勉勵新生,指同學將面對艱鉅的挑戰,歷史未必能保證未來走向如一。或有人認為一代不如一代,但大家可以與歷代的人一樣出色,甚至表現得更好;不要因年輕便讓他人輕視自己。
新校長張翔:港大同學應敢於創新 突破固有框架
張翔校長致辭時表示自己首次參與港大的入學禮,故跟剛入學的學生般,同屬新生。他續指自己重視自己與學生的聯繫,故甫上任便與如學生會等學生組織會面,並期望日後會有更多跟學生交流的機會。
他亦寄語學生不應只著眼於學業成績或事業發展,而應敢於創新,多發掘新事物並突破固有框架,如報名參加交流生計劃,以走出自己的舒適地帶。同時,他提到世界正面臨如貧窮、能源短缺等問題,作為學生應多關心世界。
他亦在開學禮上回應了港大機械工程學系副教授張祺忠涉嫌謀殺妻子一事。他表示對該校園慘劇感到難過及驚訝,並承諾校方會支援有需要的學生和職員。
就張祺忠博士涉嫌謀殺一案 港大將提供心理輔導予師生
有關港大校委會成員張祺忠因涉嫌謀殺妻子被捕一案,香港大學機械工程系系主任顏慶雲發電郵予機械工程系學生及研究人員指相關謀殺案於港大內發生,且涉案人士為港大教職員,對事件感到驚訝並希望能夠在新學期開學前減低事件對同學的影響。電郵中亦提及若同學有任何情緒影響,CEDARS將提供心理輔導。[1]
另外,新校長張翔今日下午二時亦就事件發集體電郵予港大全體師生、校友,他形容事件是「校園內的悲劇」,指自己和大家一樣悲傷和驚訝。他指出雖然事件詳情仍未查明,但深信師生和校友都受事件影響,校方將在此艱難時期為他們提供必要的協助。至於詳情將會稍後發放。[2]
行政及財務副校長康諾恩亦於下午發集體電郵向受影響師生提供不同的支援。其表示有需要的學生能向 CEDARS 尋求心理輔導,而職員方面則能透過人力資源部的僱員支援計劃(the Human Resource Section (HRS) and the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provided by the Hong Kong Christian Service)求助。另外,黃克競樓七樓將於今天(29日)關閉,而機械工程系的辦公室將移至黃克競樓五樓。[3]

Dear colleagues, students and alumni,
Many of you might have heard about the tragedy that has occurred on campus, and I am sure you are as saddened and shocked as I am.
While the details are uncertain, what is clear is that a tragic event has occurred and that many students, staff and alumni will be affected. The University is offering its support to students and colleagues.
Our thoughts are with those who are affected and the University will be providing the necessary assistance to them at this difficult time. Further details will be issued shortly.

Dear Students and Staff,
Following the President’s earlier email regarding the tragic incident on campus, I would like to draw your attention to the support and arrangements for those who are affected.
The University is offering its support to students through the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) and colleagues through the Human Resource Section (HRS) and the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provided by the Hong Kong Christian Service. Students can call 3917 2305 for general support or 3917 8388 if counselling services are needed. Colleagues can contact Ms Christina Ng, Assistant Registrar of the HRS on 2859 2422 for general enquiries or the HKCS at 2721 3939 for counselling services.
7/F of Haking Wong Building will be closed today and the office of the Department of Mechanical Engineering will operate on 5/F of the same Building during the interim. Alternative arrangements will be publicised once identified.
