YIU, Hoi Ling, Chairperson of the Election Commission and SHAM, Kwan Ho, Chairperson of the Union Council have jointly announced the polling results of the 2015 Annual Election, the Undergraduate Student Membership to the Boards of Faculties, as well as the 2014 General Polling (GP). Around 6200 Union Members participated, amounting to an overwhelming turnout rate of 39%, hitting the highest record of the recent 5 years. Statistics show that the turnout rates from 2010 to 2014 were 23.3%, 27.6%, 26.6%, 20.0% (By-election), and 18.4% respectively.

All fourteen members from the Proposed Union Executive Committee (Union ExCo) Cabinet ‘Ascent’, all seven Proposed Popularly Elected Councillors (PECs), all three from the Proposed Undergrad Editorial Board, all four from the Proposed Campus TV Executive Committee were successfully elected, while all ten from the Proposed Union ExCo Cabinet ‘Smarties’, were defeated.

The General Polling involving constitutional amendments, concerning the effective date of amendment of the HKUSU Constitution, official announcement of GP results, and the duties of the Financial Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, as well as the captioned motion: “The Hong Kong University Students’ Union shall withdraw from the Hong Kong Federation of Students.” were passed.
