Dear Members,
An open apology concerning Undergraduate Student Representatives to the Boards of Faculties 2013
The purpose of this letter is to convey the sincere apology from the Hong Kong University Students’ Union Council. We would like to inform you that the posts of the Undergraduate Student Representatives to the Boards of Faculties 2013 remain vacant until the next session is elected due to the negligence of the Union Council in handling the follow-up actions regarding the By-election for Election of Undergraduate Student Representatives to the Boards of Faculties 2013 (‘the Election’).
The question of whether the Election’s nomination procedure dated on 25th – 28th March 2013 was in conformity with the related regulation has long been in dispute, rendering the election result ineffective. Due to miscommunication between the Union Council and HKU Council, subsequent actions have not been carried out appropriately to discharge our duty of holding further Re-election. We are disappointed to inform you that, since the nomination period of Session 2014 will overlap with the procedure of holding a Re-election for current session, the Union Council has decided not to hold a Re-election due to its impracticability.
We Union Council shall take all responsibility and would like to apologize for the mistakes and late notification. The details of election arrangement of Session 2014 would be announced soon in which no same mistake would be repeated. Students are welcome to join the election and speak out on faculty affairs.
Best Regards,
The Hong Kong University Students’ Union Council Session 2013
